Oddington Crossing during redevelopment of the line
Oddington Crossing during redevelopment of the line
At the time that this image was taken, the Oxford-Bicester railway line was undergoing extensive redevelopment in order to turn it into part of a new Oxford-London link (and it was hoped eventually a reopened Oxford-Cambridge link). The track had been lifted and bus services replaced trains; however, as the trackbed remained in place and was a route for heavy plant movements, the gates at the crossing were retained and were opened manually for passing traffic.
