This is a continuation of the ascending path shown on the left in NS3482 : Path through Goukhill Plantation. Note the small marker for the John Muir Way on the tree on the right.
The path is greatly improved from its condition earlier in the same year: NS3482 : Route through the woods. It is new, and, at the time of writing, does not appear on OS maps. However, not far ahead, it does emerge into a clearing, joining a forestry track that is depicted on the 1:50000 map: NS3482 : Start of forestry track.
