taken 9 years ago, near to St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, England
Grade II* listed.
Gothic Revival church by Sir Arthur Blomfield, one of his finest.
Originally built for the poor of the area who could not afford the pew rents at nearby churches. Paid for by Louisa Boughton, Lady St John, whose son became the first vicar.
The present building was in fact a second church built adjacent to the original one, and was dedicated in 1875, and consecrated in 1884. The tower and spire, (height 189 feet) were not complete until 1895. The church was extended with an organ chamber in 1920.
There are north and south aisles of 6 bays, and some fine stained glass windows. The interior is grand and richly decorated.
