Locks Bridge on the Adur Navigation
Locks Bridge on the Adur Navigation
Locks Bridge on the Adur Navigation was originally a swing bridge. The navigation was completed in 1825 and continued until about 1875. Just 3.5 miles long it had two locks, one just south of this bridge (TQ17951850), and another near its terminal wharf at Bay Bridge (TQ168206). For a little more try LinkExternal link.
Competition from the Horsham Shoreham railway saw use of the canal decline.
