Labworth Cafe
Labworth Cafe
The café on the sea wall at Canvey Island is popular for breakfast, lunch and dinner but it may surprise many who eat here that this was one of the first designs of the young Ove Arup. Born in Newcastle in 1895 he was educated in Denmark and the Labworth, built in the 1930s, is the only building which he solely designed in a career that saw him become one of world's finest post-war architects and engineers.
