The train is coming off the Carlisle avoiding-line, heading towards London Road Junction, then to the ex-Midland Settle & Carlisle main line towards Leeds. The two parallel lines come from Carlisle Citadel Station. Seen much more clearly than in the other scene, are the three parallel railway over-bridges, carrying respectively: the ex-LNW lines from Crown Street Goods; the WCML from Carlisle Citadel Station to Lancaster and the South; the ex-Maryport & Carlisle Cumbrian Coast lines. The Citadel Station is also hidden by the smoke in this scene. The locomotive is ex-WD 2-8-0 No. 90386, built as No. 78592 by NB Loco in 12/44, shipped to France the same month, returned to England in 1947 and put to work on the LNER, later (as 90386) on the Scottish Region of BR, surviving until 4/67.
