Bury St Edmunds: Peace Garden
The garden was due to be opened and its teardrop sculpture unveiled four days later, on Holocaust Memorial Day 2015, the seventieth anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau by the Red Army. The Peace Garden, the inscription explains, will become the annual venue for Holocaust Memorial Day, commemorating all victims of genocide, including 57 Jews massacred nearby in 1190.
