St Mark's Shopping Centre, Off High Street, Lincoln
A view of the north side of the Grade II-listed former Lincoln St Mark's Railway Station, now a shopping centre. Originally the station was known as Lincoln Midland, the St. Mark’s descriptor only being added on 15th September 1950. This was originally a terminus station, however the line was extended through the station two years later after the opening of the Great Northern Railway’s Lincoln Central Station to its east in order to provide a connection. The station was renamed Lincoln St.Marks on 25th September 1950. Lincoln St Mark’s Station was opened for passengers by the Midland Railway on August 4th 1846 and it finally closed on May 11th 1985. After this, trains that had previously used Lincoln St Mark’s were then diverted into Lincoln Central, the former Great Northern station. The Magistrates' Courts can be seen in the distance.
