See J3374 : The Bank Buildings, Belfast (detail). Anderson & McAuley’s is opposite the Bank Buildings on the corner of Donegall Place and Castle Street. It was built in 1895 as a department store. It survived the bombing campaign but closed in the 90’s when a national department store opened in the nearby Castle Court. The ground floor remains as shops but the upper floors are now offices. This is the clock (which also shows the correct time).
Anderson & McAuley, Belfast
At the corner of Donegall Place and Castle Street, built in 1895, to a design by Young and Mackenzie as a department store. It is rich in detail including 29 heads on the upper floors, the identity of which remains unknown. The ground floor remains as shops but the upper floors are now offices.
