Felled tree by the Leeds & Liverpool Canal
Felled tree by the Leeds & Liverpool Canal
At the same time as work to improve the towpath on the north side of the canal, trees have been felled and cut back on the south bank.
Towpath Works in Kirkstall & Newlay, winter 2014-15

The towpath of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Kirkstall Bridge (SE258354) and Newlay Bridge (SE2400366) has been undergoing major restoration during the winter of 2014-15. The towpath has been widened in places and given a new tarmac surface. This has resulted in the towpath being closed, mostly on weekdays.
It looks like a lot of overhanging trees have been cut back on the opposite (south) side of the canal as well.
