The Darby and Joan Hall at Bourne, Lincolnshire
The Darby and Joan Hall at Bourne, Lincolnshire
The Darby and Joan Hall was built in South Street in 1959 as a meeting place for old people at a cost of 6,500 and has been in constant use ever since, becoming one of the major venues for local events and hired out for private functions. Extensive restoration was carried out in 2009 when the roof was replaced, new windows installed, the ceiling inside lowered and the kitchen and toilet facilities modernised to give it a new lease of life well into the 21st century.
