Burning Brash and Shrubs The Lickey Hills
Burning Brash and Shrubs The Lickey Hills
The Lickeys have been infected with the plant and tree disease Phytopthora ramorum. This required many trees and shrubs to be cut down. The shrubs and brash were burnt on-site but the infected trees removed from the hills under stringent conditions. Fortunately through Birmingham's Trees for Life programme, many of these are now being replaced. See other images of planting new hazel whips.
