Prestongrange Church Watch House
Prestongrange Church Watch House
The small gate-lodge of Prestongrange Parish Church almost certainly was constructed as a Watch House, in the days of grave-robbing for medical use. The building incorporates mortification panels of late 17th and early 18th century, typically reminding passers-by that they will die some day too – “Memento Mori”.
