TF3242 : Black Sluice Pumping Station

taken 19 years ago, near to Boston, Lincolnshire, England

Black Sluice Pumping Station
Black Sluice Pumping Station
The left hand end of the brick pumping station was built in 1946 to house three Ruston 900 horsepower diesel engines driving 100" mixed flow Allen-Gwynnes pumps. The three stubby chimneys correspond to these engines. The right hand end was built in 1966 to house two English electric 975 horsepower diesel engines. This site is still as built. On the right is the actual Black Sluice and in 2009 it was made navigable with the addition of a lock.
