Newton Street
Newton Street
Junction of the A627 and B6170. Newton Street ahead was originally the A627 via Flowery Field to Ashton-under-Lyne and Dukinfield Road on the left was the B6170 taking a more direct though Dukinfield to Ashton. In the 1960s the two roads swapped numbers.

On the right was formerly Carrfield Mill SJ9495 : Newton Street, which was the home of "Christy Towels". It stood under the shadow of the adjacent Ashton Brothers Mill until that was demolished in 2008. Now that too has been demolished a 7 acre industrial and office development site is now for sale.
