NZ2118 : Dere Street

taken 6 years ago, near to Denton, Darlington, Great Britain

Dere Street
Dere Street
Dere Street was a Roman road which ran from York to Murthly in Perthshire. On this limb running between the Royal Oak near Bishop Auckland and Scotch Corner, the line of Dere Street coincides with the B6275. The road forms a useful short cut from the A68 through to Scotch Corner. At present the road is particularly busy with traffic diverted off the A67 (see NZ2115 : Roadworks on the A67).
