Crystal Palace station: constructing a train-shed
Crystal Palace station: constructing a train-shed
The regeneration of platforms 3-6 (handling London Overground and trains to/from London Bridge via New Cross) continues with the reinstatement, after some decades, of an overall roof to this area. For some years in the 1980s/90s these platforms - originally the heart of the station, bringing excursion traffic to the Crystal Palace - were used only for rush hour services and were very much a forgotten corner, the passages roofed with scaffolding that dripped rain and pigeon droppings on those rash enough to pass below without a hat.
For the layout six years previously, with the mark of the dismantled Victorian train-shed very clear, see TQ3470 : Crystal Palace station: London Overground works.
