SD9198 : View from the moor edge
taken 7 years ago, near to Muker, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

View from the moor edge
Looking west from the shooting track on the side of Beale Hill. Beyond the long stone wall the ground drops away towards the hidden Swale with the southern flank of Kisdon Hill beyond and the snow rimmed Great Shunner Fell in the distance. The name 'Beale Hill' would suggest a corruption of 'Bale Hill', a common name in the Dales for early open air lead smelting sites.
