Built in 1891 by Alfred Waterhouse, the architect of SJ8398 : Manchester Town Hall (photographed by Keith Williamson), for the Prudential Assurance Company. One of only a handful of buildings in Newcastle built of red sandstone. The building is Grade II listed Link
