Opened in 1916 as a WW1 observation post, Grey Point fort became a searchlight directing station in 1936. It includes two searchlights J4583 : Old searchlight at Grey Point (1) and J4583 : Old searchlight at Grey Point (2). There were also two 6 guns to protect Belfast against any enemy shipping which might enter Belfast Lough. This is the searchlight direction station. The trees have now obscured its view of the lough.
