The stone was donated by a local quarry and placed in St John the Baptist churchyard in 2014 (see SD5871 : St. John the Baptist Church, Arkholme).
The inscription reads -
In remembrance and thanksgiving for all who have lived and died in the service of others in war and peace.

The slate plaque was presented in 2013 by the Thankful Villages Run, a group of motor-cyclists, see SD5068 : The Thankful Villages Run, and reads -
Arkholme 1914 - 2014 A Thankful Village.
