TF1507 : Northborough Castle

taken 10 years ago, near to Northborough, Peterborough, England

Northborough Castle
Northborough Castle
The castle - also known as Northborough Hall or Northborough Manor House - was built between 1333 and 1336 by Roger Northburgh, who served as Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield from 1321 until his death in 1358. The Grade I listed building is located on Lincoln Road at the junction with Church Street. Of the original structures, only the gatehouse (seen in the image) and the manor itself still remain. The manor house is now a private residence although the building was formerly used as a restaurant.
