The Laboratory and Canal, RHS Wisley
Part of a domestic-scale formal area which belies the scale of the rest of the garden at Wisley. The canal, which was redeveloped in 1969-70, is flanked by immaculate lawns and features a simple cascade and an elegant fountain.

The half-timbered, Surrey-style building at the far end of the canal is known as "The Laboratory". It was purpose-built in 1914-16 to accommodate the Society's offices and to house a lecture theatre and classrooms. Today, it also houses the library (surviving from the original 1906 building.

The building is grade II-listed (English Heritage Building ID: 288849 LinkExternal link British Listed Buildings).
