This unscheduled train was being used for footplate training. The Severn Valley Railway holds regular courses for steam locomotive driving.

Erlestoke Manor 7812 was built in 1939 at Swindon for service on the Great Western Railway. It was withdrawn and scrapped by British Rail in 1965. It was restored at the Severn Valley Railway and ran again on 12 February 2008.

A public footpath crosses the line here by Bank Farm.
