NH5345 : Deltic on the Royal Scotsman, passing Ferrybrae

taken 9 years ago, near to Beauly, Highland, Scotland

Deltic on the Royal Scotsman, passing Ferrybrae
A rather unusual sight on this line - a Class 55 'Deltic' diesel locomotive. This is 55003 'Meld', previously 55022. It is one of only 6 remaining Class 55s.

It is hauling the Royal Scotsman, a luxury tourist train, on the return from Kyle of Lochalsh. It has just crossed the viaduct over the River Beauly, and is passing a minor level crossing.
