Sale Water Park
Sale Water Park
The River Mersey has problems with flooding and the Sale Ees sluice gates were built to reduce river levels when the water reaches a pre-set height. When the gates are open they allow excess water to flood into Sale Water Park which is used as a flood storage reservoir. This helps to prevent local properties, roads, the Metro Link and canals from flooding, and it is used regularly to manage water levels on the River Mersey.
