Royal Gunpowder Factory
Royal Gunpowder Factory
Main range of buildings dating from 1870s. The buildings are split into compartments separated by blast walls. The sides and roof are light allowing any blast to go outwards and upwards without affecting the adjacent bays. The materials and processes used here changed with the armaments of the day from black powder through to cordite during WW1.
