Warren Lane, Albury (7)
Warren Lane runs south - and uphill - from Albury village, to Albury Warren. There are many sunken 'hollow ways' in the Greensand hills, and a fair number - though not this one - have been adopted as motor roads. Warren Lane, I suspect, remains pretty much as it was before the motor era.
Looking at the U-shaped cross-section, I find it hard to imagine how any horse-drawn vehicle ever got through - unless the profile was once much more flat-bottomed. It may well be that the 'softer' U-shaped profile has come about (through accumulation of eroded material?) since the lane was abandoned as a regular vehicular route.
The view here is downhill (roughly north) showing the final stretch of the lane before the village is reached.
