A development of homes for old people was opened in 1984 on a site in Manning Road that was previously part of the old Bourne to Sleaford railway line and consisting of 26 two-people flats and bungalows, the estate being named after local solicitor Horace Stanton (1897-1977) to recognise a lifetime of public service in various capacities.
