Early slate gravestone, Hoby churchyard
Early slate gravestone, Hoby churchyard
To William and Bridgit Wright, d.1698. They died within 5 days of each other, perhaps as a result of an infectious or contagious disease. The use of slate for gravestones in the area appears to have originated in the 1690s.
