St Mary's church
Grade I listed

The church was originally attached to the local Gilbertine Priory which was dissolved in 1538. Very little of the Priory remains visible.
Now parish church to North Cockerington, it was declared redundant in 1981.

It dates from the 12th century onwards and consists of a west tower, nave with south aisle, and chancel.

The nave has a south arcade of two bays from the late 12th century. This was originally built as a Chantry Chapel through the bequest of Sir John of Cockerington, (died 1388). His mutilated effigy lies in the church without head or legs, but a heraldic lion is still there.

The chancel arch is from the 14th century and has a painted inscription above.

The church was restored in 1841 when the tower was rebuilt. The church was fitted with box pews which are still in place.
