The west front of Ightham Mote
Although this is now the exit, it was the main entrance to Ightham Mote. The lower part of the tower was built in 1330-40. The brick parapets to the tower were added during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. The lower stone walls to the right of the tower originated in the 1480s and the upper part from the 17th century, replacing earlier timberwork. The left-hand range was reconstructed in 1611 and again in 1800.
