NJ2668 : Pill Box on the Slant

taken 4 years ago, 4 km from Lossiemouth, Moray, Great Britain

Pill Box on the Slant
Pill Box on the Slant
This is quite puzzling. The pill box has been built high enough up the sand dunes to be susceptible to undermining and collapse, but since the coast defences were built during the Second World war the shingle banks have been building up, to the extent that the rest of the line of pill boxes, all built at the foot of the dunes, no longer have a view of the sea. So if it wasn't the sea, what has undermined the sand dunes and caused this pill box to slip downhill? Could it have been wind? See also NJ2668 : Sliding Pill Box.
