NZ2464 : White Hart Yard, NE1

taken 10 years ago, near to Gateshead, England

White Hart Yard, NE1
White Hart Yard, NE1
A mediaeval burgage lane, named after an ancient coaching inn. The central roadway of cobbles and granite gutters (only just visible) has been unevenly worn by the metal-shod wheels of carts visiting the Victorian furniture warehouses in the lane. The entrance to the yard is shown in NZ2464 : 14-16 Cloth Market, NE1.
