taken 12 years ago, near to Gateshead, England

44-48 Cloth Market, NE1
Built in 1869 by R Fairbairn for Pumphrey and Carrick Watson. Originally a shop and restaurant, now a public house and offices. The staircase and first floor coffee rooms were constructed in 1897 by Oliver and Leeson in a distinctive version of the Arts and Crafts style. The French mansard roof has deep-set curved dormers, and there is a central hipped roof topped by fancy ironwork - see NZ2464 : Cloth Market Building, Cloth Market (photographed by Andrew Curtis) and NZ2464 : The northern end of Cloth Market, NE1. The elegant shop fronts are both originals, flanking a door to the upper floors and the arched entrance into the Old George Yard - see Link . The building is Grade II listed Link
