Built as a public house, offices and warehouses; it was rebuilt in 1897. It's an elaborate composition in carved stone with two-storey bays (with stone roofs) stubby columns, and cherubs - see NZ2464 : Central Buildings, 7-9 Bigg Market, NE1 (detail). A central gable was removed in 1919 and replaced with the existing balustrade and dormers behind. The building is not listed.
