SO2856 : Hergest Mill - still producing power

Hergest Mill - still producing power
Hergest Mill - still producing power
Although the mill has lost its water supply and two waterwheels, it can still produce up to 4 kW and 3 MWh per annum of electricity. This is courtesy of an array of solar photovoltaic panels on the roof. The DC comes down the black cable from above, into the orange inverter that miraculously converts it to 50 hz AC at grid voltage. It departs through the blue cable to the master switch and electric meter. About half of it is needed for the mill and house and the rest is exported to the grid. I took this mainly for a friend who is an energy consultant - it might come in for a lecture or similar.
