House in St. John's Street, NE1
House in St. John's Street, NE1
Built c 1700. Once used for private car parking on two levels, making it probably the only 18th C multi-storey car park in the world. It is built of dark red brick with a pantile roof. At its eastern end is one of the few snake-like gables left (they were fashionable in the 18th C). The building is Grade II listed LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) .
