Newcastle Central Station, Neville Street, NE1
Built 1845-50, by John Dobson for the York, Newcastle and Berwick Railway Company. The portico was built in 1863, by Prosser, with extension c 1890, by Bell NZ2463 : Newcastle Central Station, Neville Street, NE1 - portico. Each end of the broad sweep of the front is contained by deep pavilions with grand windows flanked by columns; and the centre is dominated by the enormous portico.
