An urban park has been created as part of the early 21st century redevelopment of the Old Town Dock area on the west bank of the River Usk between George Street Bridge and the City Bridge.

The aims in creating this 15 acre riverside park were to:
· Reconnect the City with the River Usk
· Open up previously unreachable areas of the riverbank
· Engage with the local community
· Protect and enhance the ecology of the River Usk
· Celebrate the industrial heritage of the area as a prosperous trading port
· Promote an understanding of sustainable living through materials used in the park

National Cycle Route 47 passes through the park which is also part of a footpath that connects the Wales Coast Path with the Usk Valley Walk.
