Thirties crossing of the Tame - Perry Barr, Birmingham
This view north shows the 1931-32 road bridge which replaced its older companion, built in 1711, which now carries the A453 Aldridge Road over the River Tame and traffic on its way to and from the city. The older bridge is now restricted to pedestrian traffic only and can be a pleasant spot to just sit and watch the world go by at this spot known as Perry Bridges. The contrast between what would have been the traffic of the old bridge and present day vehicle flows on the Aldridge Road can be imagined. Time photo taken 1.40 pm BST (British Summer Time).
