John Muir
John Muir was born in Dunbar in 1838 and lived in the town until he emigrated with his family to America at the age of eleven. He was to become a major pioneer of conservation and is regarded as the father of the US national park system. This statue, by Ukrainian sculptor Valentin Zenoba which stands on the High Street outside the Town House was unveiled in 1997.
