The Atheneum, Pall Mall
Some might consider it at the apogee of gentlemen's clubs in London.
An anecdote concerning the Gents at the Atheneum relates to F.E.Smith, Lord Birkenhead - a once famous barrister, wit and Conservative Minister. He was wont to use the toilets there on his way to the Houses of Parliament even though he was not a member. After some time, he was challenged by a doorman and promptly replied, "So, it's a club as well, is it?"
