Paddington (dep. 14.15) left, Swindon, Gloucester and Cheltenham (arr. 17.15) right: this is the post-war successor to the famous 'Cheltenham Flyer' of 1932-39, but by no means the 'Fastest Train in the World'. The locomotive is 'Castle' class 4-6-0 No. 5071 'Spitfire', built 6/38 as 'Clifford Castle' and withdrawn 10/63.
