Bassingfield: a bend in the Grantham Canal
Bassingfield: a bend in the Grantham Canal
Opened in 1797, the canal takes a winding route across the Vale of Belvoir from the Trent at Nottingham to Grantham. It was abandoned in 1936. This is a view from Hallam's Bridge (no longer a bridge) on an oppressive June evening.
