Glenfinnan monument and visitor centre
Glenfinnan, at the head of Loch Shiel, was the site of a Jacobite uprising in 1745. The uprising ended with defeat the following year at the Battle of Culloden.
A monument to the uprising was installed in 1815 at the edge of the loch. The monument is looked after by the National Trust for Scotland, who have built a visitor centre which tells the story of the uprising.
