Looking northwards past the Martello Tower and the sailing club.
I'm standing on top of one of the large heaps of shingle which are piled up here, at a guess to be used for emergency repairs if the sea should break through the beach.
The term Martello Tower comes from Mortella in Corsica where the earliest example was built. LinkExternal link
Only fair that a Corsican invention should be used against Napoleon.
