Perilously perched on a wobbly ladder, a member of the ground staff unsticks the figure 4 on the main scorebox on the second afternoon of Sussex's match against Nottinghamshire. The board shows Notts' James Taylor on 208 of an eventual 291 (the fourth highest score ever by a Notts batsman and the highest since Walter Keaton's 312 in 1939) and the captain Chris Read on 78 (he reached 121, and the sixth-wicket partnership 365). The visitors declared at 570 for 7 on the second afternoon and bowled Sussex out twice to win by an innings and 103 with over a day to spare.
