The White Hart Hotel (now Tavern) is located next to St Mary's Church on High Street.

According to 17th century records, a small cottage belonging to a Robert Axon stood on the site and in 1756 the building, known as Axon's cottage, had its first recorded licensee and by 1779 was known by the name "The White Hart". The deeds to the property describe it as Axons Cottage called or known by the sign of the White Hart a name probably taken from the badge of the Cheshire Archers, although the family crest of the recorded licensees in 1778 was also that of the Cheshire Archers.

In the late 18th and early 19th century, the White Hart Hotel was a coaching inn and later it became the starting point for the horse bus to Didsbury. Link
