Threlkeld quarry - off the rails
During the steam gala day a mineral wagon is put back on the rails after becoming derailed on this lightly laid temporary track. The locomotive is Marchlyn, an 0-6-0 built by Avonside of Bristol in 1933 as No. 2067. After many years on static display in the USA it was returned to the UK in 2011 and is now in a much better environment. The engine is normally resident at Statfold Barn Railway. It was one of six visiting engines for this annual steam gala. Beyond is Hugh Napier. This is a 'quarry Hunslet' visiting from the Ffestiniog Railway. This is Hunslet Engine Company works No. 855, built 1904 and is an 0-4-0ST.
